Founded in 1985 by Rob Nadler in a space behind Cannell’s Country Store in Intervale, and joined by partner Cort Hansen and his wife Cindy in 1986, Ragged Mountain Equipment is famous for its quality outdoor clothing and gear and knowledgeable, friendly team members. It moved to its current Intervale facility, in the site of the former Sketchley’s Bakery, in 1988.
Long before the current trend toward "Made-in-USA" products started to catch on, they were already busy designing, cutting, and stitching state-of-the-art outdoor gear and clothing in their small factory right here in the Mount Washington Valley. Proud of their long history of employing local skilled workers, they have outfitted countless backcountry skiers, climbers, hikers and adventurers as they challenge themselves in the nearby White Mountains nearby, and across the globe.
Their products are well-suited to the less-adventurous as well, so you'll find Ragged Mountain clothing on regular folks too -- just look around the coffee shops and farmstands in the Valley and you'll find the iconic "Ragged Mountain - Made in New Hampshire" label. And don't forget your dog, as they make coats and gear for all the best-equipped pets in the Valley.
They have also worked with many local businesses over the years to design and manufacture custom products for their needs: from ski patrollers, businesses, chairlift crews, and many items for local non-profits. Ragged Mountain Equipment is proud to help support local non-profits conservation organizations such the Tin Mountain Conservation Center, Upper Saco Valley Land Trust and is a principal supporter of the MW Valley Ski Touring Foundation.
Ragged Mountain remains the Valley's most comprehensive purveyor of backcountry ski equipment, and their expert staff is on hand to walk you through equipment choices, or custom-fit your new alpine-touring boots.
